What a week!!! We had so much going on this week and are happy with the results. Our first cake of the week was a 3 tier topsy turvy Dr. Seuss cake. We used chocolate pound cake with chocolate buttercream and orange pound cake with orange buttercream. The layers were carved and then iced and covered in fondant. The decorating took hours but was worth it in the end. Each character and tree were cut out by hand and then hand painted after being placed on the cake. We added the sugarpaste figurines, each also made by hand and completely edible, as the finishing touches. This cake was perfect for a baby book themed shower for a mom expecting twins.
We also made the cupcake favors for this shower. They were chocolate cake with pink and blue vanilla buttercream. We sprinkled them with pink and blue sugar crystals and topped them with a homemade baby themed chocolate. Tags and ribbon were added to the clear boxes to add the perfect touch.
And if that weren't enough for one weekend, we designed a Mystery Machine Van cake from Scooby Doo. Michael did all the carving to get the shape for this van. We decorated with fondant and covered oreos for the wheels.
That cake was for Hannah and her sister celebrated her first birthday with a cupcake themed cake and smash cake. She had different color cupcake cutouts with candles, a number one, and a pink bow.
A special thanks to our friends, the Muriels, and my mom Mary who helped us a lot this week. We never could have finished all this work without you.
