I was taking dinner to the newest parents at our church on Saturday and could not resist making a Calla Lily cake for baby Lilly. The decorations were simple, but elegant and a great way to help celebrate the new birth. There is always a reason for cake!!! Lilly is doing great now that she is adjusting to being home and is a beautiful little girl. Congrats to the new parents.

I am currently working on 4 different cakes for October and having a blast. I could do this all day if I could. We have a wedding cake and cupcakes for a friend's wedding next week and then three other cakes at the end of the month. I started on some decorations for a Halloween cake and am so excited about the final product. Let me know if you would like to order Halloween themed cupcakes or a cake for a party or just for fun. Your family will love them. I also have received my new business cards. If you would like one or know of anyone who would be interested in having my information, please let me know.
Today we delivered a Navy themed cake to Tony Grant (from our church). He was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy today and his wife wanted to surprise him with a cake at lunch to celebrate. We made a Chief's Anchor, Navy battleship, and other boat themed decorations to cover the cake. Please check out the home page for pictures of Chief Grant with his cake.
Dad and Linda picked up their cake today. It was tropical themed since they have a condo on the water in Coquina Key (St. Petersburg, FL). They had a special request so we tried out a new recipe and then decorated with whipped cream icing and coconut. I added a few fondant decorations including a bird that looks like the one dad likes to feed while he is fishing in his back yard and flowers that are abundant there as well. I have not tasted the final product but I hope it is good!! Check out the cakes page for pictures of the cake.
. Shark week has ended and the new pics are up. My hubby and I teamed up for the "Blue Sharks" cake. He designed the shoes and made templates for them and I added the finishing touches.
Noah enjoyed his shark cake and is enjoying being a big boy now. He is now officially 4!!! I made him a funny shark as I thought that would be better for his age. I gave him a gold tooth just to get the point across. I had a fun time with "Shark Week" though it was only by coinsidence that the two cakes were both Shark themed. 3 cakes planned for the next few weeks, unless you would like to add to that order=) Have a few new ideas in my head too and will get to work on those soon hopefullly. I just finished two cakes for tomorrow. We will celebrate Noah's birthday tomorrow with a commical shark cake (you'll see why I call it commical when the pics are posted). My hubby helped me a lot with the second cake which is a cake to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the running club that we run with at the YMCA. He designed the running shoes that sit on top of the "Blue Sharks" cake. Drawing tennis shoes was a hobby of his in high school and now 10 years later, he got to put that hobby to good use. Pics will be posted within the next couple of days.
There has always been a great debate in the cake world and I would like your opinion. Do you eat the fondant on a cake or do you peel it off and toss it???? I know many who do not like the taste and merely consider it a decoration, but I know others who think it is great and eat it up. Also, if you were ordering a cake, would you go with fondant covered or plain buttercream considering taste, appearance, and cost? Thanks for your thoughts.
I made this cake for my brother-in-law's birthday this weekend. I tried a new recipe and was glad that I did. It was "snickerdoodle" flavor and reminded me of Christmas when my mom used to make snickerdoodle cookies. This may become a go-to flavor in a few months when Christmas rolls around again. Cinnamon buttercream was layered in between two cakes and the rest was frosted with white buttercream and decorated with a fondant bow and curly ribbons. Take a look at my home page for more pictures. Next up is Noah's birthday cake this upcoming weekend. I'll start tomorrow with some of the decorations. i can't wait to get started.
I told my husband today that I have 4 cakes going through my head right now!! In the next few weeks I will be working on a cake for my brother-in-law's birthday, my son's birthday, my dad who wants me to experiment on him =) and a friend who wants to surprise her hubby (I'll have to let you in on that one later). Then I will start working on a wedding cake and cupcakes for a friend's wedding in October. I can't wait to share the pictures with you.

AuthorCakes by Nadia came about after taking a few cake classes at a local store. I have become addicted to coming up with new ideas for cakes and "playing with my food" We live in Florida and have 3 young children who love to help me in the kitchen when they can. Even my husband likes to help out and of course they all enjoy sampling the outcome. Archives
